Heterogeneous multicore processor consists of large number of processors with different configuration packed together on a single chip. There is a tremendous computing power offered by this multicore processor. Even though enormous performance enhancement with this multicore platform, it brings lot of challenges to the efficient operating system scheduling. In this paper we propose a new agent based scheduling and thread assignment algorithm in such a way that none of the heterogeneous processor will be kept in the idle state and the cores are utilized efficiently. We actually classify processors as fast core, average core and slow core based on their computing power. Then based on the cpu and memory intensive instructions we assign the threads to the respective cores. The ultimate aim is the heterogeneous processors within the multicore are assigned with the appropriate threads. We actually modified and simulated the linux 2.6.21 kernel process scheduler to incorporate this scheduling concept. Our evaluation results show that this agent scheduling algorithm outperforms the existing scheduling algorithms for HMC(Heterogeneous MultiCore) processors interms of cpu utilization.

The present study was aimed at investigating the dose dependent free radical scavenging activity of combination of Grape seed extract and Zincovit tablets (nutritional food supplement) using different in vitro models. In vitro antioxidant activity was measured by two methods, 1,1-Diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging and [2,2-azinobis(3-ethyl-benzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid)] (ABTS) radical scavenging assay. Various concentrations of combination of Grape seed extract and Zincovit tablets (nutritional food supplement) dissolved in methanol (1.56-250µg/ml) were used. Ascorbic acid was used as a standard drug. Methanol and water were served as blank. In DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging assays, the IC50 values were 74.70μg/ml and 23.66μg/ml respectively. In both the methods a significant correlation existed between concentrations of combination of Grape seed extract and Zincovit tablets (nutritional food supplement) and percentage inhibition of free radicals. The results obtained in this study indicate that the combination of Grape seed extract and Zincovit tablets (nutritional food supplement) is a potential source of natural antioxidant.

Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a global health problem and is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Physical activity is a beneficial intervention for prevention and treatment of T2DM. Objectives: To investigate and compare lipid profile and blood pressure responses of circuit weight training (CWT) or aerobic exercise training (AET) in pre-hypertensive T2DM patients. Methods: Forty pre-hypertensive T2DM participants, aged 50-60 years, were randomly divided into two groups (CWT and AET). Exercise training was performed three times per week in both groups; for 12 weeks. Eight parameters were evaluated pre-training, after 3 months of training and 1 month post training cessation. Results: Compared with aerobic training; CWT for 12 weeks in T2DM patients seems to yield more statistically significant effect on lipid profile with favorable lowering effect on total cholesterol (TC), Triglycerides (TG) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) but with more favorable increase in high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) either on short or long run basis (after 3 months exercise and 1 month follow up). On the other hand; aerobic exercise training for 12 weeks for pre-hypertensive T2DM patients seems to yield more benefit and statistically significant lowering effect on systolic and diastolic blood pressure when compared with CWT either on short-or long-run basis. Conclusions: While CWT is the intervention of choice to improve lipid profile in pre-hypertensive T2DM patients, AET is still the best intervention to improve blood pressure in those patients, for a more extended period of time.

This study covered 7 different agrobased programmes for rural development in selected districts of five provinces (Kwazulu natal, North West, Gauteng, Western Cape, and Mpumalanga) in South Africa. This was based on the fact that programmes were introduced to alleviate rural problems and central to the success and sustainability of rural development programmes is the issue of beneficiaries’ participation. The programme covered include Comprehensive Rural Development, Masibuyele Emasimini, Comprehensive Agricultural Support programme and Ilima Letsema, Land Redistribution for Agricultural Development, MAFISA, AGRIBEE, Food Security, Land Care, Agricultural Disaster Management and Agro processing. While some agro-based programmes for rural development are peculiar in some provinces, others are national programmes with some forms of adaptation and modification. A simple random sampling technique was used to select farmers in different districts in each of the provinces and interview was conducted through a structured questionnaire on participation, attitude, and constraints towards participation. The results show varying degree of participation across the provinces and the programmmes. Participation was observed to be influencing the effectiveness of these programmes in overcoming rural problems that have been targeted. The paper recommends structural amendment in the delivery of services to rural dwellers through these programmes in their respective provinces.

Image Retrieval is a field of study concerned with searching and retrieving images from a collection of database. Face image retrieval is still a challenging task since face images can vary considerably in terms of facial expressions, lighting conditions etc. In this paper we propose a new face image retrieval method using Orthogonal Moments. This method extracts the feature from images by orthogonal moments to retrieve images from a large database. This method has been extensively assessed with YALE face database and FERET Database. This method shows a noticeable performance compared to other methods.

The introduction of robots into the manufacturing process is a sufficiently complex problem, taking into account that so far little is known, on the one hand, about the characteristic aspects that should be actually established concerning the technological preparation for implementation, and on the other hand, about the conditions and efficiency in the production process.

Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) is an enzyme in the pentose phosphate pathway (PPP) that plays an important role in protecting cells from oxidative damage by producing NADPH and reduced glutathione. The G6PD c.202 G>A and c.376A>G deficient mutation is endemic among Aures (A-) populations but its clinical significance is not well delineated. We set up to estimate the proportion of G6PD deficient among the Saudi men. We then established the prevalence of c.202A A- mutation and its linkage to c.376 A>G polymorphism in this population. The development of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) based methods for the detection of known mutations has facilitated. We carried out a study on G6PD deficient in the Saudi subjects to evaluate the molecular characteristics of this enzyme deficiency and the frequency of Exon 4 & 5 in G6PD gene. A total of 1540 Samples were screened for G6PD deficiency. The prevalence of G6PD deficiency was 2.5% (n = 39). G6PD A‾ mutation was observed in 2 (5.2%) cases. None of the samples showed significance in G202A and A376G mutations. Our study suggest that G6PD (A376G) A‾ mutation was present in our study but we cannot show the significance in the cases and controls.

Content based image retrieval system searches the database to find the images that are similar to the query image. It compares the images in the database, using the features such as shape, color, texture etc. The common problems faced in Image Retrieval System are semantics and time consumption. This will overcome by developing a “CBMIR: content based medical Image Retrieval System” that allows the user to query using a single region of an image instead of whole image. Since we concentrate on medical domain, the features extracted are shape, intensity and texture are used in spatial domain. In this work the first step is to crop the query image as specified by the user. Second, extract the features from the cropped image. Similarly, crop and extract the features for the database images. Determine the image similarity and retrieve the images from the database using Euclidean Distance method. In this method, the images with shortest distance from the query image are retrieved

Culture-dependent and culture-independent methods were used to evaluate haloalkaliphilic archaeal diversity in Soda lakes of Wadi Natrun, Egypt. Physico-chemical characteristics of the lakes were examined in order to establish their effect on biodiversity of Archaea. We employed culture-dependent technique to study haloalkaliphilic archaeal diversity by using ten different complex media with different carbon sources, salinity (15% - 25% NaCl) and pH (9-11). Samples of sediments and water from different lakes were used as inoculants and enrichments were incubated at 37oC for 3-4 weeks. In addition, we surveyed the archaeal diversity in the water and sediment samples of four Soda lakes by denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE), and analyzing clone libraries of 16S rRNA genes amplified with Archaea-specific primers. Isolates belonging to the genera Natronococcus, Natronolimnobius, Natronomonas, Halobiforma and Halorubrum were recovered from brine samples by enrichment and identified by different phenotypic characteristics as well as sequencing of 16S rRNA. The archaeal diversity was highest in the sediment sample of Lake Zugm; as well the number of bands derived from archaeal DNA was highest in the DGGE profiles of sediment samples. All sequences fell into the phylum Euryarchaeota and Crenarchaeota. The library comprised new phylotypes which consisted of two clones that exhibited low 16S rRNA similarity (94 – 98%) with known species and could potentially represent new species in the genus Halorubrum, one clone with 94% similarity to Natronomonas which could represent a new species, as well as two unidentifiable phylotypes which exhibited 90 - 91% similarity to uncultured archaeon clone.

In this paper, a new approach to fractal image compression is proposed. The proposed approach is designed using the imperialist competitive algorithm (ICA) from the movement perspective of angle of colonies towards imperialist’s position. A given image is sub-divided into block of pixels and these blocks are considered as countries. The countries make-up the domain block, we then determine the imperialist within the domain block. In this case, the mean squared error (MSE) is considered as the similarity measure for obtaining the range block. The idea behind the use of ICA is that during the search, only the domain blocks of similar structures of the image are selected. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm reduced significantly the computation time required for the MSE-based similarity search between the domain block and the range block. Moreover, the advantage of the proposed algorithm is that the encoding time is 245 times faster than the full-search algorithm.

The aim of this study is to introduce an application that enables information sharing and communication between visually-impaired individuals and able-bodied. For the purposes of the study, web-based audio library automation was designed and the usability of the system was analyzed regarding the volunteers who record audio books and the visually-impaired individuals. The visually-impaired individuals who took part in the test procedures in order to make a general evaluation of the system reported that the system was theoretically necessary and successful. As for the usability aspect, positive comments were received regarding the automation system developed. The authors believe that the current study is likely to be an alternative reference source for the related literature and further research studies to be conducted in the field.

Automated segmentation of white matter (WM) and gray matter (GM) is a very important task for detecting multiple diseases. The paper proposes a simple method for WM and GM extraction form magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of brain. The proposed method is based on binarization, wavelet decomposition, and convexhull and produce very effective results in the context of visual inspection and as well as quantifiably. It is tested on three different (Transvers, Sagittal, Coronal) types of MRI of brain image and the validation of experiment indicate that an accurate detection and segmentation of the interesting structures or particular region of MRI of brain image.

This study was designed to develop a reversible middle cerebral artery (MCA) occlusion/reperfusion model in monkeys.\nBy inserting a Cordis steerable guidewires balloon catheter (595-E014) from the femoral artery of 12 male adult monkeys (Macaca mulatta) weighting 5.5±0.5Kg, the balloon catheter could be inserted into the MCA and occluded the blood flow. Magnetic resonance T1, T2 and DWI showed ischemic signals in MCA supplied area. Neurological evaluation demonstrated neurological deficits in the ischemic group. Neuropathological examinations were consistent with the neurological evaluations. The results suggested that this monkey MCAO model seemed close to human stroke.

Abstract\nIntroduction: Infertility is a problem that in addition to psychological effects, its high medical costs is also gripped the family and society. Regarding the role of the hormone oxytocin in stimulating ovulation and its less complications and cost, it may be considered substitutes for HCG. We decided to perform this study because the mechanism of effect of oxytocin on ovulation is not clear and no study has been conducted directly about its effect on LH surge. Methods: Of infertile women without ovulation, presenting to Iran North-West Gynecology specialized clinics, which had ovulation following excitation with Clomiphene, 200 patients were selected, and 200 patients received 5 U intra-muscular oxytocin. This was \"experimental\" and \"Case- Control\" study in which the subgroups were cased for: ultrasound study of follicular growth and follicle diameter measurement; serum LH levels measured periodically in both groups; Ovulation confirming using serum progesterone measurement in the middle of the luteal phase. The data obtained in the groups were analyzed by SPSS software version 15 using T-test. Results: The mean serum LH levels after 24 h was 21.87±21.71 mIu/ml in Control group and 23.77±34.51 mIu/ml in Case group, without significant difference (p=0.836); but U-Man- Whitney test showed significant difference (p=0.029) of mid-luteal average serum progesterone between the Control and Case groups (15.92 ng/ml and 23.88 ng/ml respectively). Conclusion: Although there was not significant difference in the mean serum LH after 24 h in two groups, but the presence of significant difference in mean mid- luteal progesterone levels in both groups suggest that administration of oxytocin is effective in the Ovulation induction.

The textile wastewater with the dye is released in various ways into the environment and it cause significant environmental problems. Due to the stability of modern dyes, conventional biological treatment methods for industrial wastewater are ineffective, resulting in an intensively colored discharge from the treatment facilities. Thus, there is a need for developing treatment methods that is more effective in eliminating dyes from the waste stream at its source. The most effective methods of dye removal from wastewater are adsorption and the use of enzymes. In this study, removal of Acid red 37 from aqueous solutions has been studied using silica fume waste material after its modification with laccase from Russulaceae (Lactarius volemus). Laccase was purified by using saturated precipitate (NH4)2SO4, DEAE-cellulose and immobilized on silica fume. Batch adsorption experiments have been performed as a function of pH, contact time, temperature and adsorbent dosage. The optimum results were obtained at pH 6, contact time of 60 min, temperature of 20 ºC and an adsorbent dose of 1 mg/mL. The Freundlich equation was found to have the highest value of R2 compared with the Langmuir model. Thermodynamic parameters including the Gibbs free energy, enthalpy and entropy changes indicated that the adsorption of Acid red 37 onto laccase-modified silica fume was feasible, spontaneous and endothermic. The results show that the laccase-modified silica fume can be used for the treatment of aqueous solutions as an alternative low cost adsorbent.

In the present study, the allelopathic effects of Eruca sativa, Mentha peprinta, and Coriandrum sativum water extract, prepared by 25 gm and 50 gm powder of dry leaf dissolved in 100 ml of double distilled water (100% , 50, 25 and 0% as control) were tested for their allelopathic effects on seed germination and other growth parameters of Phaseolous vulgaris. laboratory experiments were conducted in sterilizes Petri dish with a 24 h, 48 h, 72 h, 96 h and 120 h time interval for seed germination and 24 h, 48 h and 72 h for radicle length on an average of 25° C. The effects of different concentrations of aqueous extract were compared to distilled water (0% ). Aqueous effect caused pronounced inhibitory effect on seed germination and root length 0.of receptor plant. Seed germination and root length results indicated that the inhibitory effect was proportion to the concentration of the extract. Inhibitory effect was much pronounced radicle length rather than germination. Hence, it could be concluded that the leaf aqueous extracts of these medicinal plants contain water-soluble allelochemicals, which could inhibit the seed germination and reduce radicle length of Phaseolous vulgaris. It is suggested that Phaseolous vulgaris should not be planted close to these plants to avoid the adverse effects on its growth.

The effect of economical, cultural, social, individual and environmental factors on cinema demand in Tehran, capital of Iran, has been investigated. A randomly selected sample of 800 individuals w ho regularly (> 4 times/year) go to cinema in Tehran have been surveyed through questionnaire. The collected data was analyzed via factor analysis and path analysis method by using SPSS and LISREL software. Results showed that the demand for going to cinema in this city is affected by all of the mentioned main five factors to different degrees. It was detected that among the investigated, the economical has the most influence on going to cinema in the city of Tehran.

For I={phi}, we have the Efremovi c proximity structure [2] and for the other types of I, we have many types of proximity structures. Some results on these spaces have obtained and one of the important results: every *-normal T1 space is I-proximizable space (Theorem 3.9).

Diabetes is a multi-factorial diseases induced by genetic variations at multiple loci, environmental factors, and gene-environment interactions. The prevalence of this health problem is rapidly increasing throughout the world and particularly in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. A large number of genes have been implicated in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM), but in population dependent manner. The FABP2 gene codes for a protein responsible for the absorption of long chain fatty acids. We investigated association of FABP2 A54T gene polymorphism with T2DM cases. Genotyping was carried out by real time-polymerase chain reaction using purified DNA. The study included 460 healthy controls and 438 T2DM cases. None of the allele or genotype of FABP2 A54T was associated with T2DM cases versus the controls (OR=1.219, 95% CI=0.988 - 1.502; p= 0.06). Clinical data and anthropometric measurements of the patients were significantly different from those of the controls (p<0.05). We concluded that A54T polymorphism was not associated with either T2DM in Saudi population.
