Gout, one of metabolic diseases is destroyed bone and joint by uric acid crystal that\nbe formed with increased uric acid concentration in blood. In addition, in acute gout,\nuric acid crystal (=Mono-Sodium Urate, MSU) activate innate immunity and induce\ninflammation response. Lithospermum erythrorhizon (LE) is Boraginaceae family plant\nbe used commonly dyeing and medical herb in Korea. Shikonin, one of the major\ncomponent of Lithospermum erythrorhizon, be reported that anti-inflammation and antioxidation\neffects. In this paper, we oral administrated LE extracts 100mg/kg, 25ma/kg\nand allopurinol (positive reference drug) 10mg/kg after intraperitoneal injection 1hr.\nRats are caused hyperuricemia through intraperitoneal injection of potassium oxonate\n(uricase inhibitor) 250mg/kg. The study group are as fallows; GroupⅠ: control group,\nGroupⅡ: potassium oxonate 250mg/kg intraperitoneal injection, GroupⅢ: potassium\noxonate + LE extracts 100mg/kg oral administration, GroupⅣ: potassium oxonate +\nLE extracts 25mg/kg oral administration, GroupⅤ: potassium oxonate + allopurinol\n10mg/kg oral administration. Research results showed significantly reduced of proinflammation\ncytokine, IL-1β, TNF-α, IL-6 although hematological variation be not\nshown. Also, the western blotting results showed reduced tendency expression of iNOS,\nNrf2 in pons and adrenal glands.
