The incidence of postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) occurs in 30-65% of patients after cardiac surgery. The aim of our study was to investigate the impact of general anaesthesia with thoracic epidural anaesthesia on cognitive functions after cardiac anaesthesia with CPB.\nThis prospective case – control study study took place at the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (Medical Academy Hospital of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences) in 2014 - 2015. \n80 patients were enrolled into two groups: general anaesthesia (GA, n = 42) and general anaesthesia with thoracic epidural anaesthesia (TEA, n = 38). Neurocognitive tests were accomplished 1 day before surgery and 7 days postoperatively: MMSE, Six – item cognitive impairment test, WAIS Digit symbol substitution test. \nAll preoperative (baseline) test results did not differ significantly between TEA and GA groups. 7th-day WAIS test results did not differ comparing TEA (20.03; SD 5.97) and GA (17.14; SD 6.48) groups. Comparing preoperative and postoperative WAIS test results there was a relevant decline in GA (preoperatively: 19 (SD 7.11); postoperatively 17.14 (SD 5.97) group. WAIS score change was significantly higher in GA groups, compared to TEA. There was no significant difference in 7th-day MMSE test results comparing TEA (median 28, min 23, max 30) and GA (median 28, min 18, max 30) groups. Patients in TEA group demonstrated better Six-item test results than in GA group at the 7th day after surgery (p= 0,16). Less points demonstrate better cognitive function, more points - cognitive dysfunction: GA median 2 (min 0, max 16) vs TEA median 2 (min 0, max 16) before surgery and GA median 4 (min 0, max 18) vs TEA median 2 (min 0, max 18) after surgery.
Actually, there are no systematic studies reported in the literature of reproductive parameters of deer Mazama pandora (M. pandora). In the present work we evaluate both testicular and seminal characteristics of M. pandora and compared them with those previously reported for other deer species. Using four deer raised in captivity, aged 1, 2, 10 and 11 years, testis length, width and circumference were measured and the macro and microscopic characteristics of the seminal samples obtained with transrectal electro-ejaculation technique were evaluated through five consecutive months. The results obtained from testicular and seminal characteristics were similar in three different ages (2, 10 and 11 years old), whereas the 1 year old specimen is slightly shorter in all parameters. The values of both morphometric and spermatobioscopy parameters were similar to others species of deer. Overall, this data will be helpful to keep a systematic record of the reproductive biology of the male M. pandora in captivity, and also will be useful for the realization of future reproductive studies in this and other vulnerable species.
The healthcare industry collects huge amounts of data which, unfortunately, are not turned into useful information for effective decision making. With the integration of data warehouse and data mining techniques, it is possible to expose information that supports the decision-making process of physicians and administrators. In this study, we have created a data warehouse for lung cancer data that received from American National Cancer Institute (NCI). The lung cancer data have brought into certain formats, cleaned from errors and repetitions. The star schema model was used; hence the data warehouse is designed to respond to even the most complex queries. Then, Naive Bayes, K-Nearest Neighbors, C4.5 classification algorithms were applied to the data in the data warehouse. A web-based prototype system was developed to provide support to physicians in the decision-making process using the decision tree model obtained. When considering the size and complexity of cancer data, a decision-support system built with both data warehouse and data mining can shed light on the treatment process for physicians.
To ascertain the comparative relationship between bioconvertibility and crystallinity in enlightened fungal-based simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (FBSSF), the preprocessed rice straw was fermented using the generally confirmed consolidated program with Mucor rouxii. Unlike the widely accepted notion (mainly negative bias) of 2nd-generation biomass conversion, the results of R-squared regression of current FBSSF showed the atypical patterns regardless of process styles. That is, regarding the use of the regression-based control in this M. rouxii-based format, it means that many problems lie ahead of structure/metabolic interpretations. Furthermore, in the majority of continuous bionetworks via consolidation-based cellulolytic system (especially by eukaryotic cells), it is thought that the solution to this problem is the same.
A theoretical analysis was carried out based on data on the manufacture of rapeseed oil at separate enterprises in the Kirov area. The basic principles of engine operation with rapeseed oil additives were taken into account. A comparative evaluation of the composition of rapeseed oil samples ob-tained in Russian Federation and Byelorussian conditions was carried out in order to identify its composition.\nThe main guidelines for the improvement of the operational properties of rapeseed oil for use in power machinery installations are proposed. Experimental research was conducted on the reduc-tion in the viscosity of rapeseed oil based fuel oil by the addition of additives. Conclusions are drawn based on the results of the research.
The combination of formal methods with\nagile software approaches is a new topic in the research of the software engineering. Formal methods are the most precise way of specifying systems requirements, and so reduce the scope\nfor misunderstandings. Formal specification translated the system requirements which are expressed in natural language diagrams tables, into a mathematical language which has formally defined semantics. This paper depends on using the event-B as a formal method to unify the two methods of agile software development, extreme programming, and scrum in order to\nenjoy the properties contained therein. The proposed model involves some practice that found in XP method and provides a management framework for the project that existing in a\nscrum method.
