A matrix converter is an ac-ac power converter topology that has received extensive research attention as \nan alternative to traditional ac-dc-ac converter. A matrix converter is able to convert energy from an ac source to ac \nload without the need of bulky and limited-lifetime energy-storage elements. This paper discusses the novel \ntechniques for controlling matrix converters using intelligent techniques, thereby controlling an electrical drive. PI \ncontrollers are employed for speed control (Direct Torque Control) of 3Φ Induction Motor drives. Various \nintelligent techniques adopted in this paper for control are Fuzzy Logic and Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System \n(ANFIS). Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) are the various optimization \ntechniques proposed to optimize the gains of PI controllers of the process. The performance of the system is \ncompared in terms of time domain specifications using intelligent and various optimization techniques and \nsimulation results are presented. The investigation in this paper reveals that ACO based optimization is better in all \naspects than PSO based techniques.
This research presents design and\nimplementation of the ultra fast parallel lithium\ncharging architecture with an embedded algorithm\nusing an active PWM charge pump supported by a\nhybrid control mechanism consisting of\nTemperature, humidity and current sensors. The\nnew architecture guaranties the ultra fast parallel\ncharging cycles of lithium cells without lifespan\nreduction due to possible overheat side effects in\nmission critical applications.
The present study set out to evaluate the role of parenting styles in developing attachment models among Persian students. The participant pool for this research included the whole population of male and female students (n= 240, aging 17-18) selected by cluster sampling from the available pre-university centers in Sabzavar ( a city in Iran) during the school year of 2011-2012. Data was gathered from the survey packet including questionnaires of Demography, Attachment and Parental Authority (P. A. Q.) for fathers as well as mothers in separate forms, filled out by each participant. Performing SPSS version 16, descriptive statistics, correlation and regression analysis were used to analyze the data. Findings revealed that from among 81 formulated hypotheses just 13 were retained. Put differently, the results provided some support to confirm the meaningful relationship between the father\'s authoritative parenting style and the secure attachment model in the whole sample as well as in the girls and also with the anxious- ambivalent insecurity attachment model in the girls. Further, it was indicated that the mother\'s authoritarian parenting style correlated with the avoidance attachment models in the whole sample, boys as well as girls.
Data clustering is one of the most important tasks of data mining. In this paper, we\nproposed a new data clustering method so called ICAKHM based on Imperialist\nCompetitive Algorithm (ICA) and K-Harmonic Means (KHM) algorithm. Our proposed\nmethod combined the advantageous aspects of ICA and KHM in data clustering\nprocess. ICAKHM not only helps the KHM to escape from local optimal but also\nrequires less runtime to achieve the global optimal. Based on reported experimental\nresults on popular data sets, we can say that ICAKHM is an efficient method for data\nclustering.
Indonesia is a country that a lot of valleys, hills and volcanoes. So every year, Indonesia many natural disasters landslides. A landslide is the movement of slope-forming materials such as rocks, debris material, soil, or a mixture of materials, moving down or off the slopes. This research tries to build an early warning system of landslides using microcontroller ATMEGA8535. At ground shifted over 4 cm then this system will sound sirens and danger will contact the village to evacuate its citizens. The results showed that for a landslide early warning system based on microcontroller ATMEGA8535 work well with a resolution of 2 mm shift ground.
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the fact that a learning group is a combination of different types of learners and a teacher should first find out each learners individual style of learning and then mold his teaching style according. A group of 200 students were selected through random sampling for purpose of this research. The questionnaire used (VAK Learning Styles Self-Assessment Questionnaire by Chislett and Chapman, 2005) consisted of 30 objective type questions. The purpose of this questionnaire was to find out the ratio of auditory, visual, kinesthetic or a combination style learners in a degree level class room. The data of the questionnaire was analyzed through MS Excel by calculating the percentage for the frequency counts in respect of each category of the responses i.e auditory, visual or kinesthetic.
Antibiotic resistance is a growing problem. Multidrug-resistant E. coli infection is attaining alarming situation amongst the scientists as the resistance decreases efficacy of other susceptible drugs. Plants including orchids are used in medicinal purposes from the time immemorial to treat dreaded diseases of microbial origin. In this work, three orchid species viz., Aerides odorata, Acampe papilosa & Acampe ochracea that are ethnic to North-East India were investigated for their antimicrobial efficacy against three different strains of Escherichia coli (E. coli) out of which two are resistant to Kanamycin and Ampicillin. Disc plate method was employed for determination of antimicrobial activity of the orchid extracts. Extracts were prepared in different solvents and discs were prepared. The zones of inhibition were measured.\n\nThe results suggest that all the three orchid species has good antimicrobial activity against the three strains of E. coli. The work may be further validated using extracts in other solvents and their chromatographic separation followed by structure determination. Although, the work is a preliminary study on antimicrobial screening, but this showed the possible efficacy of the ethnic orchid species and opens a new area for antimicrobial drug design.
